Kick your habit, switch off your phone.

Our Mission

PhonePsychology.com seeks to understand the psychology behind obsessive smartphone use, and help people regain control over their own lives. A happy and fulfilled life involves the pursuit of meaning, rich relationships, complete engagement in the moment, and times of fun, relaxation, and reflection. While smartphones are powerful tools, the way many of us use our phones interferes with our ability to live full lives. We want to understand why, and then apply that understanding to implement real solutions.

The first step towards a solution is SwitchKick. Armed with the incredibly clever catchphrase, "Kick your habit, switch off your phone", SwitchKick will be the first social intervention app for smartphone addiction. Bringing people together is one of the most powerful tools for changing habits and behavior; SwitchKick will harness the power of teamwork and mutual accountability to overcome the traps for our attention set by technology.

As William James wrote, our lives consist of those things that we attend to. It's high time to retake control of our lives.

Now here's an overused William Shakespeare quote:

To be, or not to be, that is the question:
Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take Arms against a Sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them
— Shakespeare, "Hamlet"
